Last Wednesday, we introduced you to this month’s Hungry Nation Tastemaker, Immaculate Infatuation. Today, we’re bringing you a closer look at their Summer Foods Playlist. And what pray tell, is a playlist? Well, it’s part of a new YouTube initiative called “leanback.” No, we aren’t talking about Fat Joe’s favorite dance move, we’re talking about an easier way to watch videos. Quite literally, you select the first video in the playlist and lean back while the rest of the videos play through continuously.

Before we get to the featured videos, here’s a quick refresher on what Immaculate Infatuation is all about. Founded by music industry professionals, Chris Stand and Andrew Steinthal, Immaculate Infatuation started as a hub for their comprehensive knowledge of the food scene in New York City. It has since grown into a hub of restaurant reviews, features, video content and more, for those looking to get the skinny on the fat of the food land without having to digest all of the stuffy “expert” nonsense. If you haven’t already, definitely check out their blog- even Alec Baldwin gets in on the action.

With heat domes popping up everywhere, you might be thinking the last thing you want to do is stand over a hot grill or in front of a stove. With the help of our Tastemaker, hopefully we can change your mind. Which brings us to their summer playlist.

Immaculate Infatuation: Cookies Across the City – Our Tastemakers kick things off with one of the first videos they ever made. Aided by the most discerning of tasters, two children, the Immaculate Infatuation guys go on an Odyssey around New York City to find the most delicious cookies. This video might make you reconsider dieting altogether.   

Hungry in Brooklyn: Summer Cocktails – A Cuban Mojito, a Blueberry Gin Sparkler and Spiked Strawberry Lemonade walk into an Internet video. And whipping up a refreshing afternoon buzz was never the same.

Cookin’ with Coolio: Swashbucklin’ Shrimp – If you ever wondered whatever happened to Coolio, this show is a good place to start. As you might have predicted, this is not your grandma’s cooking show- unless, of course, your grandmother likes elaborate costumes and busty, pirate maidens. Then, she’ll be totally into this.

Average Betty: Rooster Eggs Recipe – Let Hungry Nation’s Average Betty break you out of your conventional shell, as she teaches you how to make Rooster’s Eggs. And yes, given their overall maleness, roosters cannot traditionally lay eggs. Looks like you’ll just have to watch the video.

Immaculate Infatuation: Surf Lodge – Hang Ten with Infatuation TV as they cook up a feast of summer eats with Sam Talbot of Top Chef fame and surfer/musician Donovan Frankenreiter.
